What is Envisage?

/en’vizij/

The definition of envisage is this:

To contemplate or conceive of as a possibility or a desirable future event.

To form a mental picture of (something not yet existing or known).

So what does this have to do with photography?

As an artist, I love to imagine new worlds and alternate possibilities. Using the technological capabilities of photoshop as a creative platform paired with my photography, the sky isn’t the limit–it’s just the beginning.

That’s where Envisage comes in. I want to create a fantastical world for you that will bring our imaginations to life. Envisage sessions are the first step in creating a one-of-a-kind piece of art tailored for you. Imagine doing yoga among the stars or your child’s fantasy coming to life as fairies and pirates leap from their storybooks. If we can imagine it, I can create it!

Rainy Day

It has been a while since I last created a fun piece in Photoshop. Its raining/snowing and gray outside, so it just seemed fitting to knock off some rust with a quick playful piece like this!

To show what I started with, these are the stock images I brought together to create this piece.

Final Senior Thesis Project!

It’s finally happening! This Saturday I’ll be graduating from MSU with my BA from the Photography program. This moment is so bitter sweet, as I am sad to be closing this chapter of my life but so excited to see what the next one holds. Unfortunately this year’s graduates will not be able to celebrate together at a traditional ceremony. I am sad that us photo seniors will not be able to have our Senior Show, to get all dressed up, enjoy food and drinks, show off our hard work to faculty, peers, friends, family, and the public. This is the event many photo seniors look forward the most during our time in the program.

So, my dear friends and family, if you see our work posted to social media, show some love and share our work! This is the best option for us to be able to show it off this semester. With that said, here is my series, What the Idiom.

By nature, idioms are often statements that mean something completely different from what they literally say. Many of these sayings use animals to make a statement about something else. While most are aware they have little to do with the actual animal, it seems unlikely one would hear a statement like “early bird gets the worm” without picturing a bird with a worm; or “a fish out of water” and not picture a fish flopping helplessly on dry land. What the Idiom captures the silliness of common idioms and sayings and gives them a more literal context to bring some laughs and smiles to the viewers of this imaginary world.
